Neillsville Police Department Offers Tips to Help Keep Your Home Safe

The Neillsville Police Department has seen an increase in criminal activity in our area recently.

The Department kindly requests your assistance in preventing further incidents by ensuring that your doors are securely locked and report any suspicious individuals or activities. First, identify possible entry points by a burglar.

Some other items to consider include strong exterior doors and locks, strong and locking windows, trim trees and shrubs, consider timers to active lights when you’re gone, make sure your home is well lit, and post your address on your home.

All of these should not be done at the expense of fire safety. Make sure you have a planned escape route in case of a fire. Make sure your family knows the route and practice it on a regular basis.
