Suspect in Arrested After High Speed Chase With Wisconsin Rapids Police Department

In the early morning hours officers from WRPD were investigating a report of a domestic disturbance.
The suspect fled in a vehicle. A short time later, a deputy from the Portage County Sheriff's Department located the suspect and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect fled and a pursuit occurred heading towards Wisconsin Rapids on STH 54.
During the pursuit the suspect fired multiple times at Deputies and Officers. Suspect's vehicle was disabled in the area of 8th Street and East Grand Avenue. Suspect again fired at officers striking squads, and fled the scene.
A short time later the suspect was located by the use of a drone on top of a roof in the area 9th and Grape Street. While on the roof, the suspect continued to fire at officers/deputies. Officers returned fire, and struck the suspect. He was taken in custody and transported to a local hospital.
There is no continued risk to the public, and the investigation is ongoing. There are crime scenes that we're asking the public to stay away from. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted with this incident, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Portage and Wood County Sheriff's Departments, Grand Rapids, Nekoosa, Stevens Point, and Marshfield Police Department.
All law enforcement officers are safe; multiple squad cars were shot by the suspect during this incident. The Department of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.
