Man Arrested After Officer Involved Shooting in Eau Claire Appears in Eau Claire County Court

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A man who was arrested in an officer-involved shooting in Eau Claire appeared in court.

According to WEAU Staff, 53-year-old Thomas Burback is charged with pointing a firearm at an officer, failing to comply with an officer and other charges. Eau Claire police say Officer Down Larson confronted Burback after responding to a report of a disturbance.

While Officer Down Larson was being questioned during the preliminary hearing, the defense questioned her on her belief that Burback was holding a firearm when she shot her gun.

Larson responded by saying she knew that Burback was still holding a gun. The court found probable cause that a crime was committed and the case will be scheduled for an arraignment.
