NEILLSVILLE AIRPORT PROJECT GETS GOVERNMENT MONEY

Nearly $500,000 of state and federal funding will be coming to the area to construct a snow removal equipment storage and terminal building at the Neillsville Municipal Airport.Governor Jim Doyle has approved the project, releasing $11,168 in state funds to complete the needed building related work. The city of Neillsville is contributing another $11,168, and the Federal Aviation Administration will provide the remaining $424,369.
The project will provide needed storage space for existing snow removal equipment and provide a basic terminal building, to include an office, pilot waiting and flight planning area, and restroom facilities.
The project is scheduled to begin this month and should be completed by the end of the year.
The Neillsville Municipal Airport consists of one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length. The airport is located in a high snowfall area and has frequent need to deal with snow removal in winter months.
