Election Primary on Tuesday, August 13th
Thursday, August 8th, 2024 -- 10:01 AM
Next Tuesday, August 13th, a Partisan Election Primary is being held in Wisconsin.
The big thing to remember for this election is that you can only vote for candidates in one party. You cannot vote for multiple candidates in different parties. If you do any crossover voting, your ballot will be spoiled. However, if your ballot is spoiled, poll workers will still count your vote on the constitutional amendment questions that will be on Tuesday’s ballot.
Speaking of the amendments, in simple terms, if approved, they would limit spending powers Wisconsin governors have and limit the executive office’s ability to respond to emergencies. If the amendments are voted down, the status quo would remain.
Clark County voters who choose to vote for Democrats will only have one contested race to cast a vote for and that’s in the 7th Congressional District with Kyle Kilbourn and Elsa Rae Duranceau. The winner of that primary will take on incumbent Tom Tiffany in the November general election. There are other candidates running unopposed for state and local office.
On the Republican side, there are two contested races. Voters will choose between Eric Hovde, Charles Barman, Rejani Raveendran for Wisconsin State Senator. The winner will take on incumbent Tammy Baldwin in the November general election.
Also, they will choose between Karen Hurd and Lori Voss for the 69th Assembly Representative. The winner will take on Roger Halls during the November general election. Again, there are other candidates running unopposed for state and local office.
