The city of Neillsville has new royalty after a new Miss Neillsville was named Friday night at the C.C. Sniteman Town Square Park Gazebo. After a rigorous interview process that concluded with each of the 4 contestants receiving one final question, the judges selected Holly Newman as Miss Neillsville 2008.
Morgan Gerlach was selected as 1st Princess.
"I'm still soaking it in yet, but otherwise, it feels pretty good," an excited Newman said after the coronation.
Newman moved to town just a few years ago.
"I just figured this would be a better way to get more involved in the community," she said, "(Neillsville) was small at first, but once I got to know it, it was bigger at heart, and they welcomed a lot more people than I first realized."
Newman replaces Michelle Mitte.
Special recognition was given to event organizer Heather Mabie, who will be less involved in the planning next year.
Lois Radke of Neillsville won the Bose Wave Radio.
Also, the late Mick Kujak was given recognition for his years of coverage of the event for the Clark County Press.
