Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 -- 10:00 AM
The Marshfield Common Council approved a budget resolution at their meeting on Tuesday.
The resolution increases adopted 2024 budget for Public Safety Capital Outlay Fund Law Enforcement Outlay and other capital equipment law enforcement account by up to $14,000 for upgrades to security at the police station;
Increasing adopted 2024 budget for the Public Safety Outlay Fund Fire Protection Outlay and other capital equipment fire protection account by $932,100 to purchase fire engine #4;
And increasing 2024 adopted budget for Public Safety Outlay Capital Fund proceeds of long-term debt by $946,100. This was described as a housekeeping item that the Council has approved in the past. It puts the amounts into the general ledger on budgetary basis, so when it comes through, it’s there on an actual basis.
The Council also approved the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This is a blueprint for projects the City would like to do, but it’s always changing. Some projects move forward, some move back, some are removed all together, and old ones get put back in.
There was a slight change approved to the original plan by putting $15,000 of surplus funds from the UW to 2025 and taking $65,000 from the police building design budget and moving it to the UW for $90,000 for projects at the UW.
The Board also approved the seconding reading of an ordinance regarding the Marshfield Municipal Code for the Marshfield Utilities Commission. It was approved with an amendment that would see the Commission have to come to the Council for approval of projects over $1 million. The original wording had that number at $2.5 million.
The Council also approved members of the new Housing Committee, heard a presentation on MACCI’s marketing of the City’s new Certified Site, heard a presentation on the description and benefits to the City of the Business Development Director role, and heard an update on the recruitment for the Community Development Director position.
When approving the minutes of the various committee meetings from the past couple weeks, the Council also approved a change order from the Marshfield Utilities Commission in the amount of $188,488;
Approved the replacement of an air conditioner at the Street Division, approved refilling the vacant Office Coordinator position in the Parks & Recreation Department, approved renewing agreements with BMO Harris Bank & Montreal Bank, and approved the Human Resources Business Partner job description and approved the promotion of the current Human Resources Generalist to this position.
During the Mayor’s comments, she encouraged everyone to attend Hub City Days this weekend. The City Administrator commented on the Special Council Meeting regarding the Police Building and a special meeting with other city, county, and state leaders on economic development opportunities. Finally, during the public comment portion of the meeting, a resident aired some grievances against an alderman.
