Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department Releases More Information on Fire at Assisted Living Facility

(Heather Poltrock, WSAW) The Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department has released new details about a fire that happened last Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids.
According to Heather Poltrock with WSAW, the fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. on July 18 at an assisted living facility located at 630 Pepper Avenue for a fire in a bedroom. Fire officials say that 19 residences in the facility were evacuated before the fire department arrived and were relocated to a different facility for the night.
The fire suppression system extinguished most of the fire before fire crews arrived. Officials also say the facility had working smoke alarms. Crews from Grand Rapids Fire Department, Port Edwards Fire Department. Nekoosa Fire Department, and Biron Fire Department all responded to the scene.
Fire officials say a second fire incident for an electrical fire in an apartment complex occurred while crews were on scene at the assisted living facility. The city of Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
