Sunday, July 21st, 2024 -- 9:00 AM
Neillsville District Administrator John Gaier highlighted some items from the Neillsville's School Board's July meeting. The questions and his respone are below.
1. The Board heard/approved some building and grounds updates; could you highlight those?
"Construction is going very well. There is a lot of activity in the building with numerous contractors all working simultaneously. It is a real challenge to get all of the work done prior to school starting, but all of the contractors and the district staff have been working well together. Next summer will be phase 3 of the referendum approved work."
2. Could you highlight the meal prices for the next school year?
"All meal prices for the next school year will stay the same. Breakfast will be $1.75 for all students. Lunch for elementary students will be $3.25. Lunch for middle school and high school students will be $3.75. High school students will have the option to continue to buy foods of their choice at our grab and go station."
3. Could you highlight the seclusion/restraint report?
"Schools are required by law to report to the school board each year. The number of times any student had to be physically secluded or restrained due to behaviors. The district has very few incidents of those during the year."
4. Could you highlight the Annual Safety Drill Report?
"Schools are required by law to give an annual safety drill report to the board of education. During the school year schools are required to have a safety drill each month. Those safety drills include fire drills, lockdown drills, in case of an intruder, and severe weather drills."
5. Could you explain what the WAEF Membership is?
"The board did approve membership to the Wisconsin association for equity in funding. The district has been a member of the Association for a number of years. The goal of that association is to provide equitable funding for students and tax payers across the state. That equitable funding is meant to provide opportunities for kids, regardless of where they live, snd fairness to taxpayers based on property values."
6. Could you highlight the Transportation charges for the next school year?
"The cost per mile in transportation charges did increase 3 cents a mile for next year. Driver cost increased $.25 an hour."
7. Could you highlight the year book prices for the next school year?
"Yearbook prices will have no increase for next year pre-ordered. Preorder yearbooks will be $49 and late order yearbooks will be $55."
8. Any donations you'd like to highlight? Anything else you'd like to touch on that we may not have already discussed?
"As always, a special, thank you to our community for their support of our school, and our children!"
