The Clark County Fairest of the Fair competition is just a few weeks away.

The crowning of the Fairest of the Fair is happening Wednesday, August 7th at 7pm in Dairy Show Arena at the Clark County Fairgrounds. I had an opportunity to speak with all seven candidates vying for the position including Lizzy Reinart sponsored by Genteman Enterprises.

She will be a Freshman at college this year. She was involved in FFA as an officer for three years in High School and attended a lot of out-of-state conferences. She was also an officer in Student Council. She was in Visoneers, an art club, BLAST and National Honor Society.

For sports, she did volleyball, basketball for one year (wasn’t really her thing!), and she did high jump for Track, which was one of her favorites. Lizzy discussed why she decided to run for Fairest of the Fair.

"When I was younger in Middle School and early High School, I thought the only opportunity for me at the fair was to show animals, which is not really my thing. And it wasn't until my Sophomore year when my FFA Advisor told me that there were other projects like baked goods and photography that I truley began to discover all the different opportunities."

I want to run to enocurage others to try those opportunities and make them a little bit more well known. When I talk about the Fair with other people, they tend to bring up the animal side of things. And there are so many other things going on."

"So, if I were to be on the court this next year, I would definitley promote a lot of those other opportunities, not only just the photography and other different art exhibits you can have, but definitley all the opportunities going on during the week."

Again, the 2024-25 Clark County Fairest of the Fair will be crowned Wednesday, August 7th at 7pm in the Dairy Show Arena at the Clark County Fairgrounds. We’ll hear from another candidate tomorrow.

Outgoing Fairest of the Fair Devani Hinkleman offered some advice for this year’s candidates: “Honestly, something I wish I would have known more before I went into is how important it is to actually soak up those moments and every event you go to, just take it in. Because this year has, honestly, flown by way faster than I thought it was going to. And it’s just something that you just need to take that time, soak it in, and enjoy every moment.”
