Marshfield School Board Approves Handbooks and More at Wednesday Meeting

The Marshfield School Board approved some handbooks at their meeting on Wednesday.

The Board approved the Academic & Career Planning Program Guide, the 2024-25 Alternative High School Student Handbook, and the 2024-25 Elementary Student Handbook.

The Board also had the first reading of the Professional Staff 2024-2025 Alternative Compensation Methods. It will be brought back for the second reading for the August meeting.

The Board also had the annual declaration and parent notice of the District's student academic standards that will be in effect for the 2024-2025 school year. This is something that is required by the state to be on their July agenda every year. No action was taken on the item.

The Board also approved several donations including:

  • $500 from Mike & Anne Schmidt to offset expenses for the HOSA International Leadership Conference;
  • $370 from Grant Elementary PTO for the Grade 6 trip to Camp Forest Springs;
  • For HOSA, $180 from the Johnson Family;
  • $200 from the Rens Family;
  • And $180 from the Tripathi Family;
  • For athletics, $50 from Kurt and Ann Boson in memory of Ardyce Heiting;
  • $200 from Brock & Decker Real Estate for Girls’ Soccer apparel,
  • And $591.41 from Nasonville Dairy for Girls’ Soccer coach bus upgrade.

The Board also approved the retirements, resignations, and new personnel. The Board also heard a brief Facility Improvement Planning Update, the superintendent talked about a program, and the Board heard about a drama trip.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, a resident spoke about the recent drama trip, a referendum committee, and protecting transgender kids. Another individual spoke on recent court rulings regarding Title IX and gender identity.

A member of the teacher’s association spoke about their summers and the work they do. A wrestling coach spoke about the program and the need for more space for the program. Another resident asked some questions about a potential referendum and a survey about it.

Another resident spoke about the wrestling program. Finally, the President of Staab Construction discussed the importance of having a proper facility to train students for jobs in the area.
