Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Warns of Scam Targeting Residents

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department wants to warn the community about a recent incident involving scammers impersonating family members over the phone.
Recently, a concerned citizen of Wisconsin Rapids received a call from an individual pretending to be a family member in urgent need of money. It’s also important to note that Officers of the WRPD would never call you and request money.
It is crucial to remain vigilant and cautious when receiving such calls. If you receive a suspicious call, please do the following: Do not disclose any personal or financial information.
Hang up immediately and do not engage in conversation. Contact Wood County Dispatch at 715-421-8700 and request to speak to an officer. Spread the word and help protect our community from these deceptive scammers. Together, we can stay one step ahead and keep Wisconsin Rapids safe.
