NORTHWOODS MYSTERY

Monday, June 30th, 2008 -- 8:26 AM

It's been nearly two years since the skeletal remains of Terrance Boushon were recovered in rural Taylor County, but it's still unclear what happened to the Owen man.

In fact, no death certificate is on record.

Boushon was last seen in Withee in May of 2005. He was reported missing in July 2005, but it wasn't until July 2006 that investigators found his remains north of Medford.

The cause of Boushon's death is still undetermined, but at least one investigator believes someone knows what happened.

"It's my belief somebody does," Taylor County Sheriff Bruce Daniels, "Until the investigation is complete, I wouldn't be able to comment beyond that."

There is some reason to believe investigators have strong hunches as to what happened.

They found the remains on private land owned by acquaintances. The search wasn't random; it was part of the investigation.

"There was a relationship in the sense that he had contact with people that owned the property," Daniels says.

The property owners haven't been ruled out as possible suspects.
"You're not eliminated until it's over. We're just trying to get to the bottom of what took place there."

While the remains had deteriorated, Daniels said items of "evidentiary value" were collected.

But, officials have still not filed a death certificate, according to Taylor County Register of Deeds personnel.

While the investigation is still active, Daniels admits new leads haven't been "beating their door down."
