Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Warns of Scam Making the Rounds

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department has been informed about a scam in which individuals are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Marathon County Sheriff's Office.

These calls typically include alarming messages about missed court dates, warrants for arrest, or criminal summonses that need to be picked up at the courthouse. Please keep in mind that the Sheriff's Office will NEVER call regarding a warrant, missed court date, summons, or similar matters.

If you receive such a call, do not provide personal information or payment. Instead, hang up immediately. If you provided any financial information to the caller, report the incident to local law enforcement by calling 715-261-1200.
