Greenwood School Board Approves Donation and Employment Matters

The Greenwood School Board accepted a donation and approved employment matters at their meeting on Wednesday.

The Board accepted a donation of a Tee Ball stipend back to Summer Rec. In employment matters, the Board approved Jason Bantle as a 4th Grade Teacher, Nicholas Peters as a Elementary Music Teacher, Jeremy Olson as a Volunteer, Mitch Behrens as a volunteer for field trips, and Callie Carlson as a volunteer.

Matthew Castle resigned as the Middle School Football Coach, Hayden Hinker resigned as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, and Eric Johnson resigned as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

During the communications from the public portion of the meeting, a student provided a handout stating their disappointment with how senior year went. A parent stated they would like scholarship donors and recipients posted in the TRG.

Middle/High School Principal and CTE Coordinator Noah Werner reported on Middle School Math Growth. Mrs. Johnson’s 7th grade classes saw over 200% growth over the year. He also mentioned Badger State Boys and Girls.

Kynton LaMont and Jaren Cullen attended the Badger Boys State on June 9th - 15th at UW Eau Claire. Bria Thomas and Tysen Lindner attended Badger Girls from June 16th - 21st at UW Oshkosh.

He also discussed the Greenwood NOW Program. School District of Greenwood participated in the Nutrition on Weekends (NOW) program through the Marshfield Area United Way.

The program provided meals for 31 Greenwood students for the 2023-2024 school year. They thank the Marshfield United Way and all the local donors who make this program possible for students.

He also discussed the CVTC Dual Credit. They’re adding college credit to their Technical Math Class through CVTC. CVTC granted them permission to work with NTC to expand dual credit offerings.

He also discussed the CTE Incentive Grant. The class of 2023 had 23 students who qualified for the CTE Technical Incentive grants. The School District of Greenwood was awarded $16,415.33 for the Class of 2023 which is $713.71 per student. The class of 2024 has 15 students eligible for the CTE Technical Incentive grants.

He also discussed the Unlocking Pathways Mentor Grant. The School District of Greenwood will be mentoring Wonewoc Center High School through the Unlocking Pathways Wisconsin Grant.

He also discussed the State FFA Convention. Mrs. Amborn and two FFA students (Tysen Lindner & Madison Stieglitz) attended the State FFA convention from June 10th - 12th. FFA chapter was awarded the following awards:

  • Gold Ranked National Chapter Award heading to Nationals,
  • 10th Place Building Communities NCA,
  • Blue Ribbon Scrapbook,
  • Tysen Lindner 7th place State Proficiency,
  • Tatym Travis Section Winner Proficiency,
  • And P.R.I.D.E. Award.

He also said thank you to all the students, staff, teachers, aides, custodians, food service, and faculty who made the 2023-2024 school year a successful one.

The Board also heard the District Administrators’ Reports. District Administrator Joe Green provided a Summer School update. They are in the middle of summer school. He also mentioned the Summer School Field Trip on June 26th to Laona, WI to visit a lumberjack camp. They took an old steam train ride and learned about lumberjacks.

He also mentioned an open records request. Forward Literacy has requested records of many things related to ACT 20 and they are working with WASB and their legal team to determine how to best respond. He also mentioned the July Board Meeting was changed to Wednesday, July 31st.

Finally, he mentioned CESA mentoring. Lindsey Schubert is going to be the CESA 10 pupil services support person this year. Lindsey will be mentoring Mr. Green throughout the year to ensure the special education audit goes smoothly.
