Donations to Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation Will Remain Local

(Heidi Paxson, WEAU) Those who donate to the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation received a letter this week, giving insight into where their dollars will go.
According to Heidi Paxson with WEAU, more than $16.5 million will be contributed locally through money once donated to the Foundation of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation said they are ensuring the funds continue to address local needs. According to the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, below is their overall plans:
- More than $9 million will be contributed to the Community Foundation of Chippewa County and Eau Claire Community Foundation (approximately $4.5M to each Community Foundation). In addition, the Eau Claire Community Foundation will receive an additional $4.8 million that is held between the Monsignor Klimek Healing Presence Endowment, the Healing Place Endowment, and the Healing Place Fund.
- More than $150,000 went to support the fulfillment of 393 applications from employed hospital staff in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire who requested emergency financial assistance prior to the hospitals’ closing. This was made possible through the pre-existing structure of the HSHS Colleague Emergency Financial Assistance Program 392 applications for emergency assistance were approved.
- Approximately $350,000 will be given to the Chippewa Valley Technical College.
- Approximately $300,000 is being contributed to other local non-profit organizations.
- About $3 million is being directed to other charitable organizations.
- A $50,000 donation is being made to the Catholic Foundations of West Central Wisconsin.
