LOCAL DISTRICTS RECEIVE SCARCITY AID

Monday, June 23rd, 2008 -- 2:40 PM

Four Clark County School Districts are among the 110 rural districts to receive a share of the new scarcity aid program.

The legislature authorized $3.6-million for districts whose enrollment is no more than 725 students, enrollment density is less than 10 students per square mile, and at least 20 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. Payments were set in legislation at $150 or $300 per student depending on district poverty levels.

Loyal, Greenwood, Granton, Owen-Withee and Thorp all met the requirements to receive aid, which will range from $19,659 for Granton to nearly $42,000 for Owen-Withee.
