Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 -- 10:01 AM
(Mackenzie Krumme, Wisconsin Public Radio) Hundreds of free musical performances will take place across Wisconsin on Friday, June 21 to celebrate the world’s largest annual music event.
According to Mackenzie Krumme with Wisconsin Public Radio, Make Music Day was launched in France in 1982, and it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries, according to the Make Music Day website.
In Wisconsin, 23 communities are slated to participate this year. Each year, an open invitation goes to all musicians, amateur and professional, to reimagine “their cities and towns as stages,” according to a news release from Create Wisconsin, an organizer of the Wisconsin event.
Make Music Marshfield will also be holding a series of events on that day in a few different locations including the Wenzel Family Plaza, Columbia Park, and the 2nd Street Community Center.
Events include ukeleles, funky instruments, performances, zumba, a sing-a-long movie, music magic, and more.
