Neillsville City Council Discusses IT Services and Approves Bids for Micro-Surfacing of City Hall Parking Lots

The Neillsville City Council accepted a bid for micro-surfacing of the south parking lot at City Hall.
The Council approved accepting the quotes from Struck & Irwin Paving, Inc. for micro-surfacing of the City Hall South parking lot ($15,165) and the downtown City parking lot on West Street ($6,037.50).
The Council then discussed IT services at City Hall and the Police Department. Mayor Dewey Poeschel presented the IT Services agreements for City Hall and the Police Department from The Dirks Group. These are two-year contracts.
Council Member Dan Clough asked what the total costs are and is it in the budget? City Clerk Rex Roehl stated the setup cost are not in the 2024 budget and that the monthly maintenance cost will be three to four times higher.
Mayor Poeschel stated that the City’s IT services are behind the times and everything does not work together. Council Member Julie Counsell stated that the contract labor costs are the top, it will be less.
Council Member Barb Petkovsek stated there is some money in the current budget for the maintenance costs and eventually everything will be moving to the cloud. The Council approved the IT Services Agreements with The Dirks Group for City Hall and the Police Department as presented.
Police Patrol Investigator Hunter Imm reported on:
- Trainings;
- One squad car had a tire/ball joint issue and a road condition crash, it is currently being repaired;
- May parking enforcements, citations, warnings, incidents, office activity, business patrols, citizen interactions and Town of Mentor contract policing.
Council Member Clough mentioned the City-wide garage sales. The Council then heard the various Committee Reports from the past couple weeks. Council Member Clarissa Rochester reported on the May 30th meeting of the Heritage Days Committee regarding:
- Financial report;
- Discussion on and approval of purchasing 15 steel interlocking barricade/fencing panels;
- Discussion on event posters;
- And discussion on glow run.
Council Member Bill Neville reported on the June 6th meeting of the Transit Committee regarding:
- Discussion on the taxi service background and setup information;
- Discussion on ridership by day of the week and hours of the day and class of revenue (adult, child, senior, agency, parcel, etc.);
- Discussion on cutting service hours and/or days or eliminating the service completely;
- And discussion on the Clark County Taxi Service.
Council Member Clough reported on the June 11th meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding:
- Current activities;
- And discussion on and recommendation to accept the quotes from Struck & Irwin Paving, Inc. for micro-surfacing of the City Hall South parking lot ($15,165) and the downtown City parking lot on West Street ($6,037.50).
