Man Arrested After High Speed Chase in Chippewa County Appears in Court

(WEAU Staff) One person arrested after a chase in Chippewa County back in April appeared in Chippewa County Court on Wednesday, according to WEAU Staff.

According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation - Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region Spooner Post, at 3:18 p.m. on April 28, 2024, a crash occurred on Highway 29 eastbound at Milepost 100, near Stanley.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper found a vehicle involved in a felony burglary involving firearms from the City of Eau Claire, the press release says. Authorities stopped the vehicle on Highway 29.

According to the press release, four people were removed from the vehicle before the driver fled from the scene. The press release says a chase took place with speeds reaching 117mph.

A trooper used an intervention technique to end the chase. The driver, identified as Andre Germale Jordan Simmons of Eau Claire was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, according to the press release.

He’s facing two counts of a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer, possession of THC, and 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety.

During his arraignment on Wednesday, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on June 24th.
