Black River Falls Decides to Keep Hoffman Aquatic Center Closed
Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 -- 9:00 AM
The City of Black River Falls has made the difficult decision to keep the Hoffman Aquatic Center closed until further notice due to ongoing maintenance issues.
This closure may last the entirety of the 2024 season. Following a closure in 2023 for similar reasons, the City enlisted Nueman Pools to assess the pool and carry out significant repairs which were completed earlier this year.
Despite these efforts, the pool continues to lose approximately 20,000 gallons of water per day. This makes it incredibly challenging to maintain the required disinfection levels mandated by the state, as well as an acceptable water temperature.
Any drop in water quality below safe chemical levels poses a risk to the safety of the public utilizing the facility. Acknowledging the disappointment this decision brings to the community, especially children and parents who enjoy the aquatic center’s recreational offerings, the City prioritizes the health and safety of visitors to the Hoffman Aquatic Center above all else.
Anyone that has purchased a 2024 season pass or punch cards can visit City Hall located at 101 S. Second Street to receive a full refund. Those who were looking forward to visiting the Hoffman Aquatic Center are encouraged to utilize the indoor pool at the Lunda Community Center located at 405 State Hwy 54.
