Wausau’s Development Director Leaving Her Position

Thursday, June 6th, 2024 -- 9:00 AM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) Wausau’s Development Director is leaving her position next month.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Liz Brodek has accepted a state-level position with the  Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and will leave the city by July 5th. This will mark the second time that Brodek has left a job in Wausau.

She previously served as the executive director of the Wausau River District. She has also had similar jobs in Milwaukee and Eau Claire, overseeing business districts and economic development. She’s been with the city of Wausau since June 2021, taking over a post vacated by Chris Schock.

Mayor Doug Diny made the announcement in a press release on Wednesday, thanking Brodek for her service. “I speak for the entire city when I say, best wishes, Liz Brodek, on your next venture. We’ll miss her creativity and passion, but we’re excited for her next steps,” said Diny.

Diny added that he will work with the economic development office over the next month to make sure her duties are handed off. No information on the search for a new Development Director was released.
