(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A former Assumption High School coach, accused of producing nude images of students in his bathroom, is free on a signature bond as he faces ten felony counts.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Seth Milkey signed the $25,000 bond on Monday for charges of capturing an intimate representation. Conditions of his bond include no contact with eight victims, identified by their initials, no unsupervised contact with minors except his own children, and no volunteering with programs or extracurricular activities that involve minors.
Investigators say Milkey used a hidden camera in his bathroom to capture the photos, some of which featured students he was mentoring. The images did not depict sex acts but did show nudity. Someone in Milkey’s family discovered the images on his laptop earlier this spring.
When he was confronted, Milkey threatened to commit suicide which led to a welfare check from police. The Catholic Diocese of La Crosse released a statement shortly after the charges came to light, saying they are cooperating with the investigation.
They added that he passed all of their background checks “before and during” his time as a coach with the school. The statement added that having students visit him at his home for counseling was a “clear and troubling violation of diocesan and school policy.”
Milkey left his position at Assumption in 2021 to pursue other opportunities. His arraignment had been scheduled for June 12th, when he will enter a plea for the ten felony counts. If the 34-year-old is found guilty at trial he faces up to 35 years in prison and thousands in fines.
