An alleged cattle rustler is in custody in Black River Falls.
A 20 year-old Jackson County man is under arrest for allegedly stealing 7 cows worth 20-thousand dollars from a Town of Alma farm. A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department says the theft happened at night, and the cows were specifically chosen for their size and value if taken to market.
The cows have been returned to the farm.
Formal charges have not yet been filed, but the spokesperson says there is a specific statute against stealing cattle.
