Use Caution With Online Dating Apps

A recent incident involving a woman being assaulted after meeting a man on a dating app offers a grim reminder on the necessary caution of using online dating apps.

According to a report from the Marshfield Police Department, on May 30th, a woman stated she was driven to Marshfield from Wisconsin Rapids by a friend and dropped off to meet up with a man she met through a dating app a few days prior. They met on Central Ave. near The Spot Bar. During their two hour interaction, she stated he became angry after a phone call from an unknown person and punched Jones in the mouth apparently without provocation.

The woman told the Marshfield Police Department she knew very little about the man other than he drove a black Toyota Corolla with a dent on the passenger side.
