Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Investigating Shooting in the Town of Easton

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting that occurred at a home on Junction Road in the town of Easton, where a 63-year-old man and 53-year-old woman were found deceased.

The preliminary investigation has led investigators to believe the incident was an act of domestic violence and there is no threat to the public. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center received a call Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 7:59 a.m. from a citizen who saw a person sitting in a vehicle with the door open.

The citizen saw the person and vehicle in the same position the previous night and asked for a welfare check on the occupant. Deputies responded and found a man and woman deceased with apparent gunshot wounds. A motive for the shooting has not been identified.

The identity of the victims is being withheld, pending notification to the next of kin. The Marathon County District Attorney’s Office and the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office are aiding the investigation.
