LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

News that a new dental clinic catering to underserved patients will be built in Neillsville has people in the area excited; now they want to know where it will be built. The city, through Mayor Diane Murphy, is looking for a suitable location, but will work with the Family Health Center of Marshfield, the non-profit corporation that will operate the facility.
"We know that people will come from all around," notes Greg Nycz, Executive Director of FHC, "In our Park Falls facility, in our first two months of operation, we saw patients from 19 counties around Wisconsin."
So, location is important. These patients have to be able to find the clinic.
"When you look at the major arteries that go through Neillsville, USH 10 and STH 73, one thing we want to do is locate the clinic so people coming who are not familiar with Neillsville have and easy time finding it," Nycz says.
But, Family Health Center is also aware the facility could have a positive impact on the economy, and the location could aid patients and employees to easily find gas, food and other services.
Neillsville certainly has some empty existing buildings, but Nycz says retrofitting can prove tricky.
"Generally the requirements for a dental clinic are such that you're better off from scratch."
While she didn't divulge any locations, Murphy said at a meeting this week she's exploring about 5 possible sites.
According to notes from previous meetings, Memorial Medical Center of Neillsville plans to build the building and lease it to the Family Health Center of Marshfield.
