A Central Wisconsin man arrested back in January for displaying a firearm and fleeing police was sentenced in Wood County Court on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Dane Bieniek allegedly displayed a firearm at another driver. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Bieniek drove off, and later crashed the vehicle into a residence and began to run away on foot.
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and recover the firearm. This led to Bieniek’s arrest while out on parole for a felony charge of vehicle operator flee/elude officer.
Earlier this month, Bieniek pleaded guilty to 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and vehicle operator fleeing and eluding an officer.
Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to five years in state prison and five years of extended supervision.
