ROOM TAX COMING TO NEILLSVILLE
Thursday, June 12th, 2008 -- 11:30 AM
It appears guests at Neillsville hotels and motels will soon have to pay a tax.Acting on the recommendation of the Tourism Committee, the City Council Tuesday directed the city attorney to draft an ordinance imposing a 3% room tax on Neillsville motels.
The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce first floated the idea last year. They estimate it could raise thousands of dollars for tourism promotion.
Only three Neillsville businesses would be affected: Tuft's Mansion Bread and Breakfast, the Super 8 and the Heartland Country Inn.
