Friday, May 17th, 2024 -- 10:00 AM
On May 13th, Marathon County Sheriff Lieutenant Nick Marcell was presented with the Wausau Area Noon Optimist “Respect for Law” award.
This award is presented annually to a member of the Sheriff’s Office who has shown exemplary service to the community and for their dedication to law enforcement.
The following was shared in a nomination they received for Lieutenant Marcell: “Lieutenant Marcell has served the citizens of Marathon County for the past twelve years as a member of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office."
"During that time, Nick has gone above and beyond his regular duties by taking on the responsibilities of being a unified tactics instructor, field training officer, SWAT Team Member, PBT Coordinator, Mobile Field Force Team Member, Honor Guard Member, Crash Reconstruction Team Member, Marathon County Battle of the Badges Board Member, and Wisconsin Field Training Officers Association Regional Representative."
In his “spare” time, Nick is an adjunct instructor at Northcentral Technical College. I can’t think of anyone who has worn more hats in the past twelve years than Nick.”
“In every role he holds, Nick has proven himself to be extremely dependable and passionate about making sure everyone and everything he is responsible for is well-prepared. Nick is a joy to work with because, despite his many areas of expertise, he is one of the most kind and humble people you will ever meet.”
This nomination is an excellent summary of all that Lieutenant Marcell has committed to not only the Sheriff’s Office but also to the community. In addition to the Wausau Area Noon Optimist Award, Lieutenant Marcell was awarded the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office – Deputy of the Year Award.
Congratulations Lieutenant Marcell and they thank him for all they do. They also extend congratulations to Trooper Austin Wanless from the Wisconsin State Patrol - Wausau Post and Officer Cody Holder of the Wausau Police Department who were recognized with "Respect for Law" awards.
