WOMAN SCORNED? JUDGE SIDES WITH SUDER

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 -- 1:02 PM

A big court victory for a state lawmaker Wednesday.

A judge did not grant Lisa Brabazon's request to impose a restraining order on Scott Suder.

Brabazon is charged with stealing money from the Abbotsford Republican when the two lived together last year.

Suder kicked her out of the house last fall when, he says, he learned she was using his checks and credit cards without permission.

Then, she allegedly broke into the home when he was gone, prompting him to get a restraining order against her.

After charges were filed against her this month, Brabazon sought to have a restraining order against Suder, claiming he may try to hurt her as the case moved forward.

But a judge granted Suder's motion to dismiss the request Wednesday, apparently siding with his notion that the request is just retaliation.

Meanwhile, in the criminal case, a judge ruled Tuesday the state will pay for Brabazon's attorney.

The ruling means the court doesn't believe she makes enough money to pay for her own attorney.

The judge appointed an attorney at a reduced rate to represent her on the criminal charges.
