Wisconsin Rapids Woman Killed in Vehicle Accident Early Friday Morning

A Wisconsin Rapids woman was killed in a one vehicle crash in Wood County early Friday morning.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, on May 3rd, at approximately 12:13 a.m., the Wood County Dispatch Center received a report of a one vehicle crash near the address of 471 North Biron Drive.
The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound on Biron Drive. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
It was determined there was a single occupant / operator of the vehicle. This individual was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 38-year-old Kola Leigh Shariff.
Agencies assisting the Wood County Sheriff's Department in the incident included: Grand Rapids Police Department, Wood County Rescue, Biron Fire Department, Biron First Responders, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance Wood County Dispatch Center and Neiman's Tow Service. This incident remains under investigation.
