Math Teacher at Wausau School Arrested for Bringing Drugs Onto School Property

(Mitchell Skurzewski, WAOW) A 23-year-old math teacher at John Muir Middle School was arrested for bringing drugs onto school property Thursday afternoon.
According to Mitchell Skurzewski with WAOW, the Wausau School District sent out a release stating Nevan Larson, 23, was arrested on drug charges and will have a court appearance Friday afternoon.
The release said the Wausau Police Department conducted an investigation with cooperation from the Wausau School District. According to the inmate list at Marathon County Jail, Larson is charged with possession of cocaine.
Wausau Police Department sent a release stating "the school resource officer (SRO) at John Muir Middle School received information that a teacher may have cocaine in his vehicle."
The Wausau PD release also said: "The SRO located a vehicle belonging to Larson in the school parking lot and requested a K9 sniff of the vehicle. Following a positive alert on the vehicle, the vehicle was searched and officers located about 1 gram of suspected cocaine. A presumptive test of the substance was positive for cocaine."
The investigation is ongoing, but there are no indications Wausau students are involved, the release said. Larson has been placed on a leave of absence pending the outcome of the investigation.
