Marshfield Insurance Agent Attains Certified Insurance Service Representative Designation

Kristi Canavan, a Senior Commercial Service Agent at Marshfield Insurance, has attained her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation.

The CISR designation program is a nationally recognized educational program for customer service representatives. “I pursued my designation so that I could not only gain a deeper understanding of insurance but also to further my insurance career,” said Canavan.

“By taking the CISR courses and subsequent exams, I feel that I now have a more technical knowledge of insurance exposures and coverages. This gained knowledge will help me deliver the best customer service possible as I feel more confident in not only helping identify coverage gaps, but also the types of coverages needed to eliminate those gaps.”

CISR designation involves 9 courses focused on minimizing E&O claims and understanding and analysis of risks and exposures. To earn the CISR designation, an agent must complete five courses and successfully pass the examination that follows each course within three calendar years following the year in which they pass their first exam.

To keep the designation, they must update each year with additional continuing education. "I really enjoyed digging deeper into various insurance coverages, especially when it pertained to commercial lines as that is my day-to-day focus," said Canavan. "The classes gave me a new appreciation on how important it is to make sure that any exposures our clients may have are properly identified and adequately covered."

Six agents at Marshfield Insurance have now attained CISR designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. Canavan plans to pursue the CISR Elite designation in the near future, an advanced level designation which will require additional classes and exams.
