The Neillsville Fire Department responded to multiple calls on Tuesday.

According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, around Noon on Tuesday, they received a call of a tree on power lines with sparks present at E. Street and E. 5th Street in the City of Neillsville.

When they arrived, they found a tree on the power lines. They secured the scene by blocking traffic on the road. They were on scene for two hours until Xcel Energy arrived and began repairs. They had no injuries on their part.

Then, around 3:11pm on Tuesday, they received a report of a debris pile that had started to burn at N8311 County Road B in the Township of Hewitt. When the department arrived, it appeared to them that a brush pile that had been burned when there was still snow on the ground still had a hot coal under the ashes.

The high winds blew away the ash and blew the hot coal into a nearby brush pile and started the pile on fire. The owners used equipment to keep the fire contained and the Department extinguished the fire. They were on scene for an hour and, again, had no injuries.

Finally, around 4:31pm on Tuesday, they received a report of another tree on power lines half a mile north of Lang Road on Central Avenue. When they arrived, they found downed power lines due to a tree.

They were on scene for 2.5 hours until Clark Electric secured the scene. Again, they had no injuries on their part.
