(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau-area pastor hopes to raise $20,000 over the next week to cover school lunch debt in the Wausau and D.C. Everest School Districts.
According to Mike Leischner, Yauo Yang launched the fundraiser on Wednesday through GoFundMe, saying “I believe that it’s important for children to be able to go school and have a dignified meal provided for them so they can learn.”
He says the fundraiser is a way to give back to Central Wisconsin students, adding he grew up in poverty so he understands what the struggle to feed a family is like.
Yang plans to make the donation on Wednesday, April 17th when he speaks to a multicultural assembly at Wausau East High School. To donate to the fundraiser, click here.
