The Clark County Health Department wants residents to know that the United States is currently experiencing an increase in measles cases and outbreaks.
Did you know that measles is one of the most contagious diseases? According to the CDC, measles is so contagious that if one person has it, up to 90% of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected.
Those with measles can spread the disease to others from four days before a rash appears through four days after. Measles can live for up to two hours in an airspace after a person with measles leaves an area.
More information can be found here: cdc.gov/measles/transmission.html. You can stay up-to-date on measles by visiting the following websites: cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html and clarkcountywi.gov/ph-communicable-disease.
