Wausau Man Arrested for 5th OWI

Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 -- 10:00 AM

(Sam Walters, WSAU) On Saturday, the Wisconsin State Patrol North Central Region Wausau Post disclosed in a news release that Hunter C. Johnson had been arrested.

According to Sam Walters with WSAU, the 26-year-old from Wausau was pulled over near US Hwy 45, on Huggins Road after a State Trooper flagged Johnson down. The Trooper noted the reason he stopped the driver was due to multiple vehicle equipment violations on Johnson’s 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

When he reached the vehicle, the Trooper detected an odor of intoxicants coming from a compartment on the passenger side. With the detection of the intoxicants, the trooper learned that Johnson had a restricted driver’s license, and was operating the vehicle with a .02 alcohol level.

Hunter C. Johnson was arrested at the scene and is being held on an order to detain, issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The 26-year-old’s charges include operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration for his 5th offense, along with operating a vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.
