Wood County Sheriff’s Department Warns Residents of Scam

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department has been notified of scam calls reaching their residents where the scammer is alleging to be one of the Department’s staff and saying they need to discuss an urgent legal matter.

Please do not give financial information or detailed personal information out over the phone.  If you feel something is "off" with the call, hang up and contact a known, published number for our dispatch to verify the call.

As a reminder, The Wood County Sheriff’s Department will never ask for payment, gift cards, or cryptocurrency to resolve a matter.
