SKIRTS AT SCHOOL: HOW SHORT IS TOO SHORT

The Neillsville school board discussed possible tweaks to their dress code policy at a meeting Monday night.Board member Paul Elmhorst said he's been startled by the revealing mini skirts students are wearing. The current policy book doesn't have any reference to the length of miniskirts and shorts.
The board asked the principals to work on a new policy that strikes a happy medium between a school uniform and the so-called "fashion divas" at the school.
The board also accepted the retirement of three longtime teachers: Jack Hammond, Rose Schreiner and Diane Sunsdahl.
Also last night, the board bumped up the price of milk from .25-cents to .30-cents and raised the price of hot lunches by .10-cents.
The Granton school board was expected to make similar adjustments to their lunch prices last night. Granton superintendent Rick Rehm suggested raising the price of a K-5 lunch from $1.85 to $2.00 and middle and high school lunches from $2.00 to $2.20.
