A Chili man taken into custody after the execution of a search warrant was sentenced in Wood County Court on Thursday.
Back in August of last year, Special Response Teams from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Marshfield Police Department conducted a coordinated operation to take Stephen Stewart into custody.
Stewart had a body-only arrest warrant for failing to appear for a firearm surrender hearing in Wood County. In addition, Stewart had pending charges from several incidents occurring in the City of Marshfield related to Domestic Abuse.
With the collaboration of the area Special Response Teams, Stewart was successfully taken into custody without incident at his residence. Previous attempts to take Stewart into custody led to him fleeing Clark County Deputies and Marshfield Officers.
The vehicle pursuits were discontinued due to the risk to the public. Stewart was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer, stalking, and knowingly violating a domestic abuse order.
Two other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to six months in jail and three years of probation.
