The Marshfield Common Council approved the creation of a tax incremental district at their meeting on Tuesday.

The Council approved the creation of Tax Incremental District #15, adopting and approving the Project Plan, and establishing its boundaries. The District is in the southeastern portion of the City, extending southeast from the intersection of Central Avenue and 29th Street, east of Cherry Avenue and south to Mill Creek Business Park.

The proposed District is a mix of industrial, commercial, residential, and vacant lands and will be established as a Blighted Area District. The purpose of this Tax Incremental District is to eliminate blighted areas, stimulate economic growth and revitalize the City by providing incentives for future private investment in the City of Marshfield.

Incentives such as site improvements, utility extension, demolition, other public improvements, as well as other Project Costs identified in this Project Plan will be provided through the Tax Incremental District. The Council also approved a resolution vacating the Bradford Court right-of-way and the Veteran’s Parkway right-of-way.

When approving the minutes from the various city committee meetings, the Council approved:

  • To award a bid for construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant Tertiary Filtration and Biosolids Improvements;
  • A resolution for the Urban Nonpoint Source & Stormwater Grant;
  • Refilling one vacant firefighter/paramedic position;
  • Refilling two vacant police officer positions
  • The addition of a 3rd canine officer;
  • An RFP for administrative services for CDBG RLF housing program;
  • The 2024 special assessment payment plan interest;
  • A 3-month contract extension with SEH for planning services;
  • And a 3-month contract extension with Cedar Corporation for economic development services.
