School District of Abbotsford Asking Voters to Approve $17 Million Referendum
Monday, March 25th, 2024 -- 4:00 PM
The School District of Abbotsford will ask voters within the District to approve a $17 million referendum on the April 2nd Election ballot.
Presently, the District says it has the opportunity to borrow additional funds with minimal impact to the tax levy. New debt payments will “wrap around” existing debt payments and the debt levy will not increase.
Projects include:
- Construction of additions, including for a safe and secure entrance, classrooms and a library;
- Renovations, including to classrooms, the technical education area and district offices;
- Safety, security, building infrastructure, systems, parking and site improvements;
- Technology and ADA accessibility updates;
- And acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
If approved, the referendum is estimated to have no impact on Abbotsford’s mil rate, which currently sits at $8.92 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
