(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A behind-the-scenes worker in the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is facing a felony count of false imprisonment after a woman says he forced her to kiss him and made sexual advances toward her.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Michael Evon is accused of making advances towards a female supervisor at another job, then refusing to let her leave the office until she kissed him.
Police say he did eventually let her out. He’s also accused of sending her an expletive-filled message after resigning as a loss prevention specialist. Officials add that Evon was also accused of making inappropriate comments to other female employees, some of them teenagers.
Evon worked in the Sheriff’s Department as a technology specialist in the communications division. Sheriff’s officials say he has been placed on unpaid leave, according to a statement released to Wausau Pilot and Review. They are also conducting an internal investigation into his behavior in the office.
Court records show he is free on a $1,000 signature bond, though will not be allowed to have contact with the victim or the victim’s place of employment. He faces up to six years in prison if found guilty of the felony charge.
Additional counts against him include misdemeanor disorderly conduct and sending a threatening or obscene message. The 45-year-old returns to court on April 9th for a pretrial conference and on May 1st for a preliminary hearing. He has not entered a plea for the charges.
