Local Cheese Companies Place at 35th Biennial World Championship Cheese Contest

2024 marked the 35th biennial World Championship Cheese Contest®, the world’s respected and honored technical cheese and butter competition, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

Wisconsin lived up to its name as the Dairy State with many dairy companies placing in the top 10 or even top 5 beating out companies around the country and around the world.

Some companies that placed include Foremost Farms of Marshfield placing first in medium cheddar, 3-6 months old with a score of 99.7. Nasonville Dairy of Marshfield received first in the Monterey Jack category with a score of 99.6.

Nasonville Dairy also received a second in the marbled cheese curd category with a score of 99.75. They also received a third in the mild heat, peppered flavored Monterey Jack category with a score of 98.75.

Nasonville Dairy also received a second in the open class, cheese curds category with a score of 99.15. Weber’s Farm Store in Marshfield received a third in the drinkable cultured products category with their strawberry low fat kefir with a score of 97.

CROPP Cooperative/Organic Valley of Colby received a first in the pasteurized processed cheeses category for their Organic American Cheese - Premium Pasteurized Prepared Cheese (White) with a score of 99.275.

They received a second in the same category for their Organic American Cheese - Premium Pasteurized Prepared Cheese (Yellow) with a score of 99.25. Land O’ Lakes in Spencer received a second in the pasteurized process cheese product for their Italian Blend Process Cheese with a score of 99.55.

Marieka Gouda in Thorp received a first in young gouda, less than 4 months old, category with a score of 99.6. They also received a first in mature gouda, 4-10 months old with a score of 99.5.

They also received a second in the flavored gouda category with their honey clover gouda with a score of 99.65 and a third in that category with a their holy trinity and a score of 99.6. They also received a second in the smoked gouda category with smoked cumin gouda with a score of 98.7.

Marieka Gouda also received a third in the open class, mild heat pepper flavored cheese for their Marieke Gouda Jalapeno with a score of 99.045. They also received a first in the open class, semi-soft cheese for their Young Marieke Gouda, 2-4 months, with a score of 99.4.

They also received a second in the open class, hard cheeses for their Marieka Golden Premium, 12-18 months, with a score of 99.2.
