An Owen man accused of lighting a raccoon on fire appeared in Clark County Court on Tuesday.
According to court records, a Conservation Warden asked Hayden Weiler about a video that had been posted to social media. It has since been taken down, but in it, Weiler is accused of lighting a trapped raccoon on fire. Weiler told the warden that he completely regretted the incident.
Weiler is facing a misdemeanor charge of intentionally mistreating an animal. During his court appearance on Tuesday, a $500 signature bond was set and he pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on March 28th and again on May 7th.
