The Marshfield Common Council approved a donation for the City’s new pickleball project.

A group has been working hard to fundraise for the new courts in the City. The Council accepted $400,000 for the new courts. The City received 5 bids for the courts and elected to accept the low bid of $508,475.83 from Marawood Construction.

The City committed $150,000 toward the project. Parks and Recreation received two grants; one from Wood County for $25,000 and one from Marshfield Area Community Foundation for $10,000. The total estimated budget for the project is $585,000 of which $435,000 will come from grants or private donations.

The Council also approved a resolution to close TIF District #5 in the Mill Creek Business Park as all projects have been completed and funds collected in 2022 were able to cover those costs.

When approving the various committee meeting minutes, the Council approved pollinator protection, awarded a bid for construction of pickleball courts at Braem Park, authorized RFP for construction of softball field at Braem Park, and authorized extension of contract for cleaning services at City Hall.

The Council also approved a resolution writing off certain EMS accounts deemed uncollectible, approved a one-year extension of current lease for space at the Second Street Community Center for Marshfield Job Center, and authorized refilling vacant Equipment Operator 1 position.

Finally, they approved a resolution for CUP for 710 Columbus Avenue.
