Whitehall Man Sentenced for Drunk Driving Crash that Resulted in the Death of his Passenger

(Kristen Shill, WQOW) The man who killed his passenger in a drunk driving crash more than five years ago was sentenced to prison Friday.
According to Kristen Shill with WQOW, Donald Ames of Whitehall was charged following the 2018 crash that happened the day after Christmas. Ames was driving and authorities say he failed to make a turn. His truck hit a power pole and rolled several times.
His passenger, Tyler Pientok, was killed. He was 23. Ames was drinking alcohol before the crash. Friday he was sentenced to ten years in prison followed by ten years of extended supervision.
