NEILLSVILLE COUNCIL TO REVISIT STRIP CLUB ORDINANCE
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 -- 12:10 PM
The Neillsville City Council may toughen their ordinance on strip clubs tonight (Tuesday).Title 9, Chapter 8 of the ordinance book regulates "sexually explicit conduct and adult establishments". Mayor Diane Murphy says she wants the council to look into a measure banning alcoholic beverages at such businesses.
But, the ordinance already seems to ban strip clubs outright.
Sec. 9-8-2 states (quote)"no person shall open premises to the public offering live performances by persons appearing in a state of partial nudity displaying some portions of specified anatomical areas not covered by fully opaque coverings, whether such persons have paid for such performances or not".
The council will also mull an application for the $10,000 state liquor license attached to the old American Legion Hall facility downtown.
Tonight's meeting is at 7 p.m.
