Marshfield Common Council Approves Second Reading of Ordinance Regarding Weights and Measures and More
Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 -- 11:01 AM
The Marshfield Common Council approved the 2nd reading of an ordinance regarding weights and measures regulations.
When DATCP inspects the weights and measures of the city’s various gas stations or scales, they charge the City of Marshfield for all the inspections. This ordinance would then break that cost down further and the city would charge the business for their inspection.
The Council also approved transferring funds in the Communications Department for the purchase of new studio lighting as their old system is out-of-date and it’s hard to find replacements for it.
The Council also approved transferring funds in the Communications Department for the extension of an existing lease for space at 630 South Central Avenue. They won’t have to sign a lease, it will be month-to-month.
The Department is looking for a new location, but they haven’t been able to find a suitable location yet. And, with the upcoming elections, they will have a lot on their plate.
The Council also approved a budget resolution revising principal and interest payments in the approved 2024 budget for TIF District #9. This was a simple correction of an item that was forgotten when putting the budget together.
The Council also approved Elizabeth LeMoine and Becky Huebner-Leu to the Committee on Aging. The council also approved a date and time for a special council meeting on April 9th to begin discussion on the 2025 budget.
When approving the minutes from the various city committee meetings, the Council approved to replace Allen Bradley at Water Treatment Facility for $137,000 and begin Phase 2 of the Wallonnie UG Primary Loop/2200 & 2300 Block Wallonnie & Palmetto for $72,113.
The Council also approved a resolution designating May as “No Mow May” in the City of Marshfield. The Council also approved authorizing refilling the vacant Senior Coordinator position, approved a Payroll Resolution regarding seasonal pay, and approved the revised City Policy regarding Dress Code. The Council also heard a presentation update regarding the proposed compensation plan update.
The Council also heard an update on a few items brought forth by Council Members including a review of EMS services, cooperation between the Fairgrounds Commission and the Central Wisconsin State Fair Board, procurement of various goods/services, and use of “bullet points” under committee minutes on Council agendas.
Finally, the Mayor read a proclamation designating the City of Marshfield as a Purple Heart City.
